Save the Date -- Thursday September 18th
Plans are coming together for a community event on Thursday, September 18th, 6 PM at SALA Event Center. This event will be the September Parallel Cinema event at SALA. Tentative Program:
- a brief update from Places & Spaces on the Black Hole Museum Intiative - learn about the initiative and how you can support it.
- Screening of the film, "The Black Hole" by documentarian and filmmaker Janire Najera - Janire has been invited to participate in the post-screening audience Q&A (15 min. run time)
- Screening of the film, "Atomic Ed and the Black Hole" by filmmaker Ellen Spiros - Ellen has also been invited to participate in the post-screening audience Q&A (28 min. run time)
- Discussion panel and Q&A with filmmakers and members of the Grothus family who will be back in town for homecoming weekend - unique perspectives on the Black Hole and Ed Grothus
In the week leading up to the event, we hope to have an exhibit of "recycled art" and interesting projected imagery on display in the lobby areas of SALA. Saturday creative workshops will be held in late August and early September, where all interested community members will be invited to participate in creating art from junk and discarded items. Experienced artists will lead the creative workshops. Selected creations will be displayed at the exhibit. Stay tuned, or get in touch at placesandspacesla@gmail.com if you are interested in helping, creating, or exhibiting "recycled art." Think "peaceful reuse."
