“The Black Hole: A Unique Slice of Los Alamos' Heritage” September 18th at SALA
Places & Spaces Los Alamos invites you to a community forum titled “The Black Hole: A Unique Slice of Los Alamos' Heritage,” to be held on Thursday, September 18, at 6 PM at the SALA Event Center. The event, part of SALA’s Parallel Cinema Series, will provide a unique opportunity for the public to engage with the history of one of Los Alamos's legendary landmarks and citizens and learn about an initiative to preserve that history. The event is free and open to the community.
Films and Discussion Panel
The evening will begin with a brief video about the Places & Spaces Black Hole Museum Initiative. Following this, two short documentary films will be screened: “Atomic Ed and the Black Hole” by filmmaker Ellen Spiros, and “Atomic Ed” by documentarian Janire Najera. An additional short video about Ed Grothus's activism, created by family member Philip Grothus, will also be screened.
After the films, a panel discussion and Q&A session will take place with family members Mike Grothus and Barbara Grothus, along with Places & Spaces Board member Kevin Holsapple. This is an opportunity for the community to ask questions about the Black Hole and Mr. Grothus, as well as provide feedback on the museum idea.
Before, during, and after the event, a “Creative Reuse Art Exhibition” will be on display in the SALA lobby from September 13-20 during SALA’s normal hours of operation.
